Relinquish road to Panchayat by plot owners in absence of original seller

My property is in rural Kerala (Panchayat area). Property is situated in a 12ft wide private road - shared by 10+ houses on either side. Prior to 1970, this entire parcel was a family property - after their partition, it was divided between 4 siblings (not joint ownership - diff sections for diff people) - who later sold it as plots, by leaving a private road in between. Our title deeds (aadhaaram in local parlance) for all 10+ properties mention that we have the right to use the property, and are responsible for its maintenance, collectively with other users of the road. In the village sketches, this road is shown as an access road for all our properties as well. Now - as time has progressed, we are desirous of getting the private road converted to a Panchayat road We approached the Panchayat for this, and while they are okay to do it, they said that they require the road to be registered in favor of the Panchayat. And according to them, this has to be done by the original 4 siblings who sold the land parcels to us. None of them are interested in doing this - as they have nothing to do with this area anymore.
