Forced to Pay Cooperative Society As Tradition before leaving the society (as se

We have sold our property in a cooperative society and have gotten the property registered in the new buyers name. Also, we have surrendered the share certificates and resigned as a member of the society. We are facing the following issues: 1 - The society is forcing us to pay x amount of money as gratitude or tradition. They are threatening us that they will create problems for the new buyer as committee has not given an NOC to the new buyers, if we do not pay up. 2. As a mutual verbal agreement, the buyer allowed us to stay until the end of the month. Now the buyer is being asked by the society, if we (sellers) have paid rent to them and on what grounds are we continuing to stay in the premises. What options do we have?
