Can buyers claim for compensation for delay after builder gets RERA extension?

Hi, I purchased a flat in Bangalore in January 2019 and as per the sale agreement and RERA, the project was supposed to be completed by October 2020. However, due to COVID-19, RERA extended the project completion date to 15 July 2021. Sadly, the project is far from complete and the builder has managed to get a RERA extension till July 2022 to complete the project. On asking for compensation for the delay, the builder has bluntly refused to pay any compensation saying RERA has extended the project till July 2022. My question is, are the buyers not eligible for compensation if the builder manages to get a RERA extension? We have been servicing our home loans since October 2020 and are also suffering under the burden of house rents due to the delay in the completion of the project. What should the buyers do in a case like this? Thanks.
