Can a tenant claim adverse possession in absence of lease agreement?

I own agricultural land. I have given the land to Mr. X who in return pays me annual rent. There is NO written contract for this. Every year I let the property on verbal basis. Since 10 years I am letting the agricultural land to Mr. X annually on verbal basis without any written agreement. Mr. X pays me rent through bank transfer. As of now, I intend to continue let him my property on verbal agreement basis only. So i want to ask 1) Can Mr X , after possessing the land continuously for more than 12 years claim adverse possession on my land? 2) What should be done from now on so that such claims doesn't arise in future? Your response will be highly appreciated Thanks
