Citizen Can't Be Declared Foreigner Just Because Linkage Not Shown With Relatives

Foreigners Tribunal in Assam had declared man named Haidar Ali as foreigner although he had established link with names of his father and grandfather entered in voters lists of 1965 and 1970. HC observed that the non-explanation of linkage of a person with other names as shown along with his grandparents' names in the voters' list of 1970 "does not affect credibility or genuineness to show linkage with his grandparents."

Gyanvapi Land Title Dispute Pending In HC, Varanasi Court’s ASI Order Is A Surprise

A Varanasi civil court has directed ASI to probe the Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi in a land title suit. But a petition on the maintainability of the civil suit itself is pending before the Allahabad High Court, over two decades after it was filed. Counsel for the Muslim side argued that the trial court should not have ordered such a survey as the HC ruling is pending.

Install CCTVs At Quarantine Centres In Nagpur, Says Bombay HC

The Bombay High Court has expressed its displeasure over institutionally quarantined COVID-19 patients not following isolation norms and directed for CCTVs to be installed in all such facilities in Nagpur. A bench in its order on April 8, a copy of which was made available, said the installation of CCTV cameras would be useful to check the movements of quarantined patients in and out of their rooms.

Delhi Govt; Negative RT-PCR Test Mandatory For Those Coming From Maharashtra

Delhi government has issued fresh guidelines prohibiting certain activities and regulating others to arrest the spread of COVID-19. The order issued made it mandatory for those coming from Maharashtra to have a negative RT-PCR Test report not older than 72 hours before undertaking the journey. All social, political, sports, entertainment, Academic, cultural, religious, festival-related, and other gatherings and congregations have been prohibited.

"Harrowing Tales": High Court Flags COVID "Emergency" On Its Own

High Court of Gujarat initiated a suo motu PIL over the Covid-19 situation in the state, observing that media reports on pandemic indicate that the state was heading towards a "health emergency of sorts". The CJ informed the registry to make the Gujarat Govt, its health department, and the central government parties in the fresh PIL.
