CJI NV Ramana Reiterates Need To Indianise System

The Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana reiterated his view that it is imperative to Indianise the justice delivery system while flagging several areas of concern in the way the Indian justice delivery system currently functions. Even after 74 years of independence, traditional and agrarian societies that have been following customary ways of life, still feel hesitant to approach courts, he pointed out.

The Kerala High Court recently highlighted the importance of exercising prudence when adjudicating matters where bias is alleged against members of the judiciary. Single judge Justice CS Dias said that allegation of bias against a judge should be based on reasonable and justifiable grounds and not on conjectures.An allegation of bias against a judge, if proven false, is a grave issue.

Assam Judge Alleges Hospital Tried to Kill Him, Police Case Filed

The judge of a court in Assam’s Dibrugarh district lodged a police complaint, alleging that a private hospital attempted to kill him while he was undergoing treatment as it was involved in organ trafficking, police said. A case was registered against Aditya Diagnostics and Hospitals on the basis of the complaint, Dibrugarh Additional Superintendent of Police Bipul Chetia said.

The official emails from the Supreme Court of India had Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image on its footer, with the message: “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas; Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”. The image and the message were ostensibly to commemorate 75 years of Independence under the banner, “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Twitter Appointed Officers in Compliance With New IT Rules

The Centre has informed the Delhi High Court that Twitter has appointed a chief compliance officer (CCO), resident grievance officer (RGO), and nodal contact person in compliance with the new IT Rules. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), in a short affidavit, said Twitter has acknowledged that the personnel are appointed as the company’s employees and not as ‘contingent workers’.
