Court marriage is the marriage which is solemnised according to section 5 of the Special Marriage Act.
This is a civil contract and the special marriage act enables the bride and groom for marriage irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Any person can be married under this special law.
The age of the bride should be 18 years or above and the age of the groom should be 21 years or above.
Parties give a notice of the intending marriage to the Marriage Officer in a prescribed form. The notice is published by the Marriage Officer inviting objection to the marriage if any. In the absence of any objection the marriage can be solemnised after 30 days from the date of the publication of the notice.
