My company is recovering interim bonus payout from my salary after resignation

My remuneration includes a fixed component and a performance-linked bonus component (25% of Fix part). This year company decided to pay an interim bonus (50 % of Total performance linked bonus) in September salary and the remaining will be paid in April salary. After my resignation in December, the company is recovering the interim bonus paid from my current month and pending Salary. I mailed HR saying that it is unfair and cited the example of a recent HCL case where HCL revoked a similar bonus recovery policy after receiving many complaints. But I am not getting any formal reply from HR. I want to know if I can challenge this as per any relevant wages or bonus payment acts. What actions should I take?
