i am startup company and have no knowledge about the law b/w labour and employer

from past many months i am facing this problem of labour in my company, i am fashion designer having my own small workshop. have appointed one master and 3 tailors under him and a lady for hand work. the day that master get appointed from than only he never work with any of the tailors with co operation more than 1-2 months and always come to me with their problems and do my brain wash and requested to bring new tailor according to his choice. but now few days back only he left after abusing alot in the company and after 1hr he called rest of the 2 tailors and that lady and tell them to leave the job place without any intimation to the company and from that day no body is picking our call and when my assistant called them to come and collect your salary they said talk to master we will not come. and now i have got a notice yesterday from labour department to come and distribute there salaries in labour office on 9th oct. where as in my company we distribute salary on 10th of every month. please guide me how to proceed further and in future what all rules have to follow before i give any employment to any gender. So that me and my company work with secure terms and conditions.
