Am I liable to pay high premium for health insurance of my employer?

My Employer is providing with 2 health insurance plans. One is the base (default plan as per grade of employees) and the second one is of slightly higher sum insured coverage. Default plan has lesser premium and higher plan has higher premium. Employer had mentioned in its policies that once you opt for the higher plan the employees cannot go down to their base plan under any circumstances. Now the employer has increased the premium by approx 50% last financial year and again by another 50% this FY (more than 100% in last and current FY combined). I now want to switch to base plan which has lower premium and coverage. But the employer is not allowing as per their policy. What should I do?
